Question on Noah's Ark story

I m not a scientist here but do you think the Noah's Ark event could have happened further back than the couple of thousand years ago ? Cos could the human race evolve into such different races given this "short" span of time. I don't see races evolving into different features given their migration into other climates during the past few hundred years.
