Enjoy... But remember
"Don't give in to winning the argument
and losing one of your eternal crowns..."

Dear Anonymous,
Thank you for your reply and your understanding. I may not be able to give complete answers to your questions but will share what is pertinent to help us understand the problems perceived in services when the Holy Spirit is moving. "a. healing does not happen to some sick people. some die painful deaths from cancer like non-christians. but of course healing happens too." When we read the gospels carefully, we will see instances where Jesus just healed one person only (John 5 :1-13); He healed without being requested but out of compassion (Luke 13:10-16); He healed purposefully in reply to John's disciples' questions (Luke 7:18-23); He healed all who came to Him (Luke 4:40); He healed with just speaking a word or even rebuke the sickness (Luke 4:38-39); He healed by laying His hands on them (Luke 4:40); He healed in response to the faith of the paralytic carriers (Mark 2:1-11)or the Centurion's faith (Matt 8:5-13). I guess it's difficult to state specifically why some people are not healed. But then there are many who had been healed. Imagine people stop seeing the doctors just because there are those who died after treatment. Do the family of the patient want his clinic or the hospitals to close down? Hope you understand what i'm trying to say here. "b. prohecy. why sometimes they fail. They are shown to be untrue when the event has come to pass. But yes some are accurate to a precision." The scriptures did not state that prophesying should stop specifically. There are prophets in Antioch (Acts 13:1); Agabus prophesied of a great famine (Acts 11:28) and the daughters of Philip are called prophetesses (Acts 21:8,9). Prophets in the NT however are different in certain ways from the OT. But that will take up another whole, broad topic. Suffice to say that we are told not to despise prophesyings (1 Thess 5:20) but on the other to allow prophesying to take place ( 1 Cor 14:30-32) and also to let others judge the prophesy ( 1 cor 14:29). Correction by the Presybytery or the Pastor in charge is needed but don't throw stones at those who prophesied in error too early for they could just be learning to move in using the gift the Holy Spirit is giving them. This is the NT not OT where rebellious children are told to be stoned. "c. tongues. why sometimes there are more than one interpretation of a tongue ? And contradicting each other." Quite similar in scenario to prophesying. One could be giving the right interpretation the other out of the flesh. Spirit-filled ( i'm not talking about Spirit regeneration here but those who had received the Baptism of the Holy Spirit) or non spirit-filled christians can be still very carnal can't they? The gifts of the Holy Spirit is not given just to those who are fully sanctified only. Look at the Corinthian church for example. "d. what are the immediate checks and balances to determine if it is from Holy Spirit ?" A very difficult question to answer i must admit. It's beyond me. But i can only say it takes a close walk with the Lord Jesus Himself and know His ways. Knowing one Person in the Godhead will help us differentiate what's of God and what's not for a start. For the Father, Son and the Holy Spirit are one in unity and characteristic too. And also getting to know all we can about the nature of the Holy Spirit from scriptures and from the fellowship we had with Him. (2 Cor 13:14). Please bear with my ramblings. I hope these replies are helpful for a start. Blessings in Christ!
