Paul wrote to the church in Corinth (1 Cor 1:1-2). In fact, Paul uses the word church in a broader way and a more narrow way. He sees the church in Corinth as one church, the church in Corinth. He sees the church in Rome as also one church, the church in Rome. He distinguished the church by geographical regions. However, he also speaks of the church of Christ (the universal sense) and the church that meets in so-and-so's house. So the context will tell you how the word church is used. So to answer your question, there is one church in Corinth meeting in many homes, and each group of believers meeting in a particular house is also called a church without qualification. |
