Re: Question How big should one house church grow to, before a new one should be started?

The size of the house church is naturally constrained by the quality of the church life. The Bible does not put a number to it so I am not going to fall for the trap of legislating a number and then have you bombard me. That has no bearing on the fact that house churches were the expression of the NT and it is still biblical, as much as you would hate to admit it.

As far as I am concerned, each house church is well able to decide for itself what is the size comfortable and suitable for the spontaneous expression of everyone. If you want to cramp 100 people into your house and have a 24 hour meeting to wait for everyone to participate you also can, though I suspect you will have probably killed off the life halfway through by institutionalising a format. House church researches have given a guide of not more than 20 people in a house church for an effective and vibrant church. That's just a guide which they have found it useful. Incidentally the cell church model looks at between 12-15 people, so I guess it should be right about there.
