though you denied that the 12 Apostles also taught on the Temple grounds before persecution broke out. You can't deny there's teaching for the church wherever they could meet, whether in houses or Temple grounds or public places. And they need not have to gather together for the Lord's Supper only in order to have their service! ++Shows how much you did not follow what I have said. Since when did I ever deny that the apostles taught in the temple grounds or in public places? Show me a statement that I ever said that. And please, the early church did not have services. Their meetings are not services in any sense of the word. Their meetings are informal and the Lord’s Supper is central. They have teaching and prayer but the Lord’s Supper is central because in it they celebrate the reason for their coming together and to look forward to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Today many come together not for the Lord’s Supper, but to be entertained with great music and to listen to their favourite pastor preach his sermon. Have you ever heard someone saying that the reason for coming together was to break bread? I haven’t. That which we are told to observe regularly we make it once in a long while and that which we are not told to observe we do it regularly without fail. Why? |
