In Vines Dictionary, the part "used metaphorically" refers to the use of the word wine in Revelations 14:8, 17:2 etc. The contrast bit was to contrast Romans 14:21 as against 1 Tim 5:23, ie not to drink wine if it stumbles a brother, as against the medicinal value of wine. My goodness, no wonder you seem to be getting other bits confused as well!
Did you stop to think that if we take your meaning to the end, then Paul is advocating that Timothy take some of the metaphorical wine of Rev 14:8? ie encouraging him to sin? Please be careful how you read and exhort. It can cause others to stumble, like wine drinking...
