Apologies for misreading Vines
Greek writings on medicine was often unintoxicating. Athenaeus states, "Let him take sweet wine, either mixed with water or warmed, especially that kind called protropos (juice coming from the grapes before they are pressed), as being good for the stomach, for sweet wine (oinos) does not make the head heavy" (Athenaeus Banquet, 2.24, see also Pliny, Natural Histpry 14.18) Paul instructed Timothy to use it as an exception to his rule of abstinence. To quote the advice of Paul to Timothy in order to justify the drinking of intoxicating wine for personal gratification is to distort the intent of this passage. Source: The Full Life Study Bible (General Editor: Donald C Stamps, MA, M.Div) My misreading does not distort my stand. Why are you so upset with me Edmund? A simple correction would be better in place. Anyway happy reading of my website and God bless you till the next time.
