>>>Sincerely wrong brother. For the word of God says that the Kingdom of God is not about eating and drinking but about righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. Coming from a Hindu background, I am fully aware of feasts after worship practiced by heathens. Hinduism traces its roots back to 4000 years ago. It has got lots of Greecian influence and customs are practiced in this religion. A compulsory full meal everytime you get together is surely a heathen practice.

++Sincerely wrong brother. You ought to put Romans 14:17 in its rightful context. Paul was talking about the issue of eating food offered to idols and the need for the strong not to stumble the weak. It has nothing to say about what goes on in a church meeting. In fact, the NT portrays the church as an eating people, even the OT too. We have so many feasts in the OT, and Jesus was often found eating and drinking, Acts talks a lot about eating too, and Revelation caps it all by a marriage feast with the Lord! The Lord’s Supper is thus a little foreshadow of what will take place in heaven. I’m looking forward to that, are you? BTW, to equate a full meal with heathen practice is an indictment against many portions of Scriptures!

And you have yet to explain to passerby how you can remember the broken body (sacrifice) and the new covenant of Jesus in the agape feasts.

++It’s just like what Jesus did. It’s not that difficult as you make it out to be. Anybody (and it’s certainly not a person dressed in clergy robes!) at any time can “interrupt” the makan session with a call to remember why they are eating together in the first place, to remember Christ and to proclaim His coming again. Some prefer to do it at the beginning, some at the end, it’s entirely up to the group.

Sure its good to have a meal like potluck when occassion permits but it is not compulsory.

++It doesn’t have to be potluck you know. The host of the house can always prepare a meal for the church. Or even order pizza from Pizza Hut. Believers can also pack their meals in and eat together. The best way to do this is to coincide your meeting times close to meal times. Wouldn’t that solve your problem?

I know of some India workers who go to certain fellowships on Sundays just because they would get a full meal and not because they love Jesus.

++This is just some of the abuses that can take place. Such has to be corrected (like Paul did) but do not justify calling off such practices (which Paul did not). In fact, if we are to take God’s Word seriously, people who abuse the Lord’s Supper may even come under God’s judgement!

This is my last posting on this matter according to my convictions. I rest my case. I thought that I should contribute something worthwhile here as I have been quite inactive here for a while. Thanks for being a good sparrring partner (pun intended of course). God bless you.

++I like that cordial and gentle spirit, God bless you too!
