Dear True Protestant,
I understand your concern and many others who are readers of this Forum. I agree we should walk by faith and not by sight. But i cannot agree that the signs & wonders & visions had stopped when the Apostles had passsed on just because the Bible is now complete, for reasons given by the Lord Jesus Himself in His instruction to His disciples after His resurrection:- Luke 24:44-49 "Now He said to them, 'These are My words which I spoke to you while I was still with you, that all things which are written about Me in the Law of Moses and the Prophets and the Psalms must be fulfilled.' Then He opened their minds to understand the Scriptures, and He said to them, 'Thus it is written that the Christ should suffer and rise again from the dead and the third day; and the forgiveness of sins should be proclaimed in His Name to ALL THE NATIONS, beginning from Jerusalem. You are witnesses of these things. And behold, I am sending forth the promise of My Father upon YOU but you are to stay in the city until you are clothed with POWER from on high." Later just before Christ's Ascension back to the Father, the disciples asked whether Christ was restoring the kingdom back to Israel and the Lord told them of the Mission ahead for them. Acts 1:7 & 8 "He said to them,'It is not for you to know the times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; but YOU shall receive POWER when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the REMOTEST PART OF THE EARTH." Did the Apostles and the early disciples fulfil the Commission of preaching the gospel to the whole inhabited world then? No or else Christ would have returned much earlier then (Matt 24:14) and we all are spared from the breaking up of the ONE Catholic Church into so many denominations and hence leading to pur present arguing over who's theology is right or wrong in this Forum. ;-) On the Day of Pentecost, Peter shared about the fulfilling of Joel's prophecy that God had poured out His Spirit "And it shall be in the last days, God says that I will pour forth of My Spirit upon ALL mankind and your sons and daughters shall prophesy and you young men shall see visions and your old men shall dream dreams; even upon My bondslaves both men and women, I will in those days pour forth of My Spirit and they shall prophesy..." Acts 2:17-19. And after finishing Peter said to the hearers "Repent and let each of you be baptized in the Name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is for you and your children and for all WHO ARE FAR OFF, AS MANY AS THE LORD SHALL CALL TO HIMSELF" Acts 2:38-39. Regards, Your true charismatic friend, SK
