Enjoy... But remember
"Don't give in to winning the argument
and losing one of your eternal crowns..."

Dear SK
Real sorry to hear about your trials or as Thos. Boston was wont to put it, the crook in the lot. {He has written a book on the subject, if you are interested]. The word 'to teleion' occurs 18 times in the NT, as in Jas.1:4 etc, which references are to be found in the lexicon. It is often translated mature or complete. Not once in the NT does it refer to the second coming or the consummation of all things brought about by that event. We submit to you that the statement 'the perfect state of all things to be ushered in by the return of Christ from heaven, 1 Cor 13:10;..." by Thayer is his interpretation of the word. Your comments: 2) The validity of the gifts for today. Look at the context of 1 Cor 13:8. It is found in the following verses 9-13. When Paul said that love never fails but the gifts will, he's talking in terms of the now time frame and ETERNITY. Verse 10 'perfect' is 'to teleion' which is already explained as as above. Verse 12 says "For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face; now I know in part, but then I shall know fully just as I also have been fully known." Notice the future tense Paul is using here for the 'know fully'. Paul is referring to our knowing fully only till then when we see God face to face over the other side of heaven's gate not now as it is only till then that we shall know Him fully, just as we are already fully known by God. God knowledge of His servant is complete. A. Paul is contrasting the now with the than, which is the future but not necessarily the future eternity. [Do not know enough Greek to be dogmatic about the tenses]. With kind regards
