Dear Friend
We confess we are underwhelmed by your vituperations and groundless accusations. There is a distinction between holding erroneous and heretical views and being a heretic. We dare not accuse other believers of being heretics just because of his false and heretical beliefs, since most of us cannot caim to be perfect in knowledge and hence harbour error and falsehood. But we suppose you must have reached such heights of sanctified knowledge and are privy to all necessary facts above our hearts that minions like us can be 'confirmed as heretics', to quote you. 1] Any 'doctrine' can be proved from scripture with a little subtlety. You taught that we are to imitate Paul and so should have supernatural encounters as Paul did but conveniently left out the rest of the sentence which read 'even as I also am of Christ' [1 Cor.11:1]. What is the chief thing that Christ would have Paul imitate? Surely it is not miraculous healing or supernatural manisfestations but LOVE. 2] Do not understand point 2. 3] Christians do not 'do supernatural signs, hear voices' unless he is suffering from some psychosis or simply deluded by a rich imagination like Edward Irving [Life of E Irving, The Fore-runner of the Charismatic Movement, Arnold Dallimore, Banner of Truth Trust]. As to his deep piety, we have no doubt. M'Cheyne could write, ' I look back on him with awe, as on the saints and martyrs of old'. Yet his views on prophecy and the visions were detrimental. He believed that new revelations were given by God and insisted that they were equal in authority with scripture, thus denying the supremacy of the latter. 4] The spiritual giants of old, incomparable in piety and knlwledge of the deep things of God, like Calvin, Luther, Zwingli, Knox, Witsius, Turretin, Owen, Goodwin, Sibbes, Chalmers, the Hodges, Alexanders, Warfield, Bonars and Spurgeon to a man never claimed extrabiblical revelations nor God speaking to them IMmediately and here we have our friend claiming the same privilege and honour of Moses whom God spoke to face to face. We are not saying you and others are lying, for you must believe whatever you are seeing or hearing but is there a possibilty that you may have been mistaken? Perhaps you should read: 'Counterfeit Miracles' by BB Warfield, Banner of Trut Trust.
