Frankie, Don't see things on one side or being self-oriented. Fastest growing churches are charismatics? Yeah, the young generation, they are there as not 100% wanting to know God sincerely, just to join in the crowd, follow the trend. Tell me, would a teenager settle his heart at ease and turn to obedience in God and put aside all fun happenings in their precious youth? Or the matured ages? The truth is, you can have 10 million people in a Charismatic Church, but how many are really keen to settle down and put aside earthly things and glorify God? Fastest growing, right, young people are active, and so-called "on" everytime when good friends "chio" them out. How many people's intention is purely to worship God? In traditional churches, members' faith are rooted and firmed. Numbers may lose to Charismatic groups. Like a stock market, a Charismatic Church attendance is like a bull stock. But there are frequent up and downs. As for a Taditional Church, the stock is more stable and seldom drops to a lowery range in attendance. Example taken from City Harvest Church and Novena Church. I think the Novena Church members are standing outside the Sanctuary and some even in the carpark and knelt even on the ground due to overloading of people. Its a big church too, very big. All masses on weekends are overflowed with the people of same faces, usual smiles and similar goal. If the temples in Bright Hill Dr chants their sutra with drums and basses and monks holding hands with nuns, waving their arms to the statue of Buddha, by 3 days, Buddhism will extinct. I agreed to charismatic worship for keen believers, but only in a youth group activity or cell meeting, not dragging the whole church into it, ok? We need to capture the youths, but are we neglecting the older ones? Without them, planting good seeds in the churches, do we have nice and comfortable, air-con churches to pray in? Ask your own pride. sadly distorted.......... |
