Hi all,
A very interesting thread indeed. My thanks to all the participants. Benjamin makes an interesting, if biased, case. He asks, "Who decides on arbitrary distinctions?". Well, shouldn't it be the individual. No one can claim to absolutely know the answer, if in fact they are arbitrary questions. So while we can make representations based on our own point of view, be it biased or not, ultimately the individual has to make an 'informed' guess based either on reasoning, emotions, or your instinctive gut. One could argue that the individual should 'seek' the Lord, but this could be construed as having a pre-conceived bias. Any decision made thru such thought processes will certainly be as a result of some degree of manipulation in one direction or another.
