Hi Interested:
>>>On gravity being a mere theory, all I have to do is to go up the Westin and jump off from the top see what happens. The only direction I'll be moving is towards the earth.<<< Hehheh, not if you jump really high and hard enough to escape earth's gravity. I've read that when most people use the word "theory", it connotes uncertainty and speculation, like "it's just a theory", implying a sense of untruth. However, in science, I was told that a theory is a set of principles or rules that explains a given phenomena. So the theory of gravity explains why you fall to earth instead of into space. A theory is therefore true given all the available evidence. Now, a hypothesis is more conjectural and could be seen as pre-theory. Anyway, what I meant is that a theory is nothing more, nothing less. It's impersonal and emotionless. It does not say, believe or be damned to hell. A caveman doesn't need to learn gravitional theory to know that he should not be jumping off mountains and cliffs. Ah, what am I rambling about? Slow day in the office. >>>Keep investigating and you might be able to find sufficient evidence for whatever you are looking for. Science is a great subject. Without it I don't believe I'll be a christian.<<< Yup, I concur (or maybe it will find me, haha). Actually, I really wish to get some formal training in science, especially now with life sciences being touted as the next wave. Age is however a problem. Overseas, I understand that the universities have no issue with mature students. But here is a different story, especially for someone with just a half-past-six basic science background. Wish my kid is at the university age and I can go abroad to study with him (maybe NZ where I can get wined and dined by Edmund too haha). Do you have any recommendations for someone like me? Regards.
