1. The Bible refers to the Holy Spirit with human pronouns:
The Holy Spirit also testifies to us about this. First He says: "This is the covenant I will make with them after that time, says the Lord. I will put my laws in their hearts, and I will write them on their minds." (Hebrews 10:15-16) They disagreed among themselves and began to leave after Paul had made this final statement: "The Holy Spirit spoke the truth to your forefathers when He said through Isaiah the prophet: 'Go to this people and say, "You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving."'" (Acts 28:25-26) 2. The Holy Spirit has "real" feelings and emotions: And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, with whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. (Ephesians 4:30) It seemed good to the Holy Spirit and to us not to burden you with anything beyond the following requirements... (Acts 15:28) Perhaps the problem is that in our modern day and age, the word "spirit" tends to take on the meaning of an intangible atmosphere or feeling, and not an invisible yet living manifestation. The older translation "Holy Ghost" probably brings across the intended idea a bit more closely. God bless!
