Ectopic pregnancy refers to the implantation of the embryo outside the uterus, e.g. in the fallopian tubes or in the abdominal cavity. Such pregnancies are usually fatal if allowed to continue, and even if it is allowed to continue, the fetus is apparently not "viable". Moving the implanted embryo to the "right place" is impossible.
Treatment of an ectopic pregnancy usually involves the removal of the embryo, either by taking medication to "melt" it away (when the embryo is still small) or in the process of removing the fallopian tubes (particularly if the tube has ruptured).
