>can a person resist the 'drawing'?
The 'drawing' or the 'compelling' that is sent by God comes in the form of 'regeneration' or 'faith'. So it is simply understood that, God is the one who gives us the 'faith', so that we will start "seeing" the real God, to whom we were so blind before.
It is God who gives us this faith.
That is why Jesus said
----------------------
John 10:
The Jews gathered around him, saying, "How long will you keep us in suspense? If you are the Christ,[3] tell us
plainly."
25 Jesus answered, "I did tell you, but you do not believe. The miracles I do in my Father's name speak for me,
26 but you do not believe because you are not my sheep.
27 My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.
28 I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
----------------------
You first have to be a 'sheep' to Believe and respond. No one can snatch them out of the Father's hand. The Father has given them to the Son, Jesus. John 6:39 - and this is the will of him who sent me, that I should lose nothing of all that he has given me, but raise it up at the last day. John 17:9 - I am praying for them; I am not praying for the world but for those whom thou hast given me, for they are thine; SO in Effect, you would be made 'aware' of your sin by God opening your eyes, and thus we would see 'what a sinner I am'??? We have heard many saints of God say "Woe is me Woe is me I am undone", 'O what a sinner I am'..etc and those all come as such a response to what the Lord Shows to us. That is the drawing........ Will you resist it ?
