Enjoy... But remember

and losing one of your eternal crowns..."

Hi! God lives outside time and space. Therefore He must know those who will be His elect from eternity, right? In other words He doesn't have to leave it to chance as to who will be saved and who will not. Einstein said, "God does not play dice". It is in this sense that Christ died only for the elect and effectively secured their salvation. That is why He was so confident when He was on earth. He knew exactly what He was doing. On the doctrine of Trinity, you'll have to do lots of research and be willing to "think like mad". I don't believe in the Oneness folks understanding of it. But any thinking person will agree that the doctrine of Trinity also poses problems. The main questions to ask is the doctrine of the Trinity in the NT? How much of it is strictly Bibilical and how much of it is from Greek philosophy like Platonism? Did the original Apostles believe is such a doctrine? They were Jews and strict monotheists. What exactly did they believe? How did the doctrine develop in history? You'll have to understand the great battles fought in the 4th century between Arius and Athanasius and the part played by Constantine; the concepts of "homoousios" and "homoiousious" and subsequent development of the doctrine after that. The other doctrine you must investigate is the two natures of Christ. Is this in the NT or does it also come form Greek philosophy? Whatever it is I think there are two errors to avoid. One is Tritheism, which really is polytheism, and the other is Patripassianism. I think all this is going to tax your brains to the limits. Remember, your unlimate authority for whatever you believe should be in the NT, in other words it should be what Jesus Christ and the Apostles taught. You don't have to believe anything which is not read in nor proved by the Scriptures. Enjoy thinking. Bye Bye: |
