Enjoy... But remember
"Don't give in to winning the argument
and losing one of your eternal crowns..."

I dont't mean to be antagonistic but the canon of scripture was acomplished well before Luther. Maybe a review of your history is in order. The only thing in question at the time of Luther was the status od the so called "apocrypha." But this was a continuing argument dating back to before Jerome and Augustine. What Luther did was remove the Apocrypha from Canonical status in his Bible. But he was not the first. This was done first by Jacob van Liesveldt (Antwerp, 1526). What Luther did was coin the phrase "Apocrypha" for those books in dispute. Whether or not the canonization process was truly guided by "spirit filled theologians" is a whole nother story. History tells us that there was much schism and dispute over the canon. Politics and coersion were the order of business in theology at the time. Remember it was the "theologians" who had William Tyndale because executed because he was convinced that the Bible alone should determine the practices and doctrines of the church and that every believer should be able to read the Bible in his own language. |
