Enjoy... But remember
"Don't give in to winning the argument
and losing one of your eternal crowns..."

1. Among Christians, there are 2 main versions of the Old Testament, the Protestants version and the Catholic version. The Catholic version has 46 books. The Protestants version was translated from the Old Testament in Hebrew language which do not include the seven books of Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Baruch and, 1 and 2 Meccabees. The Catholic version had been translated from the Greek language which did contain the seven books ( called the 'Deuterocanonical' books by Catholics or the 'Apocrypha' by the Protestants) This was accepted by the early church. The new Testament is a collection of 27 books. 2. Catholics read the bible within the understanding of the Catholic community- in the context of the Church. This means that the individual's interpretation should be measued in the light of the tradition and teaching of the Church community. Catholics hold that this authority was delegated by Jesus Christ to his folloers as a group under their proper leaders. Morever, the Catholics believe that the Church is guided by the Holy Spirit through its leaders. |
