Realised that this is the Theological Forum that I should be putting this question to .....rather than the other forum where I tried to raise this question.....(with not much sucess in getting a in depth clear reply)....
Been hearing quite a bit about "impartation" of gifts etc. This is not a part of my theological training nor upbringing. Understand it is quite an AG or Pentecostal thing. Can someone from that tradition help me understand this. 1.Is it a kind of 'jump start' for the person prayed for? I know there are scriptural texts used eg Elijah and Elisha, Paul and Timothy. 2.Is impartation not a discipling process rather than a spiritual 'zap'? 3. If someone doesnt have strong faith or is starting to move say, in prophetic ministry....can a person with strong faith and prophetic ministry pray for an impartation on that person-eg a transfer of a his giftings? What if God doesnt want that person to have those gifts but gifts perhaps in hospitality or helps? I am aware thaat there are those who believe that apostles and spiritual gifts are for the first century etc. If you hold that belief, I dont want to have a long discussion with you because this is NOT the purpose of my raising this question/request. I really want to hear from those who believe that spiritual gifts/ apostles are for then and NOW. Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks.
Thanks. THE PILGRIM
