Re: Question Seventh Day Adventists- what is wrong with their doctrines? (Peter Selvan)
Date: 2001, Jul 02
From: Bill bmadroth

The Seventh Day Adventists claim to be God’s sole authentic church in the whole world. This of itself is not supprising or unusual as the RCC and many other accepted Churches such as the Church of Christ make the same claim.

What really sets the Seventh Day Adventists apart is its teaching by Ellen White, their Prophet, that Christ began a new period of his High Priestly ministry in 1844, moving from the Holy Place to the Most Holy Place of heaven’s sanctuary. There the record books were opened(in 1844), so that the suitability of every person who has ever professed faith in God and/or Christ to enter their eternal Kingdom may be assessed, starting with Adam and moving to those that are now living. This is based on an interpretation of the Book Dan Chapter 8 Verse 24..

This group tends to be very dogmatic, progmatic and legalistic. It is considered a Cult by many and is listed on many of the "cult watch" sites on the NET.

For me to assess whether they are "saved" or not would not be prudent. Salvation come from God through faith in Jesus Christ. It is an individual and personal thing and not necessarily based on what Church we attend. I do not believe that doctrinal error on issues not pertatining to salvation would "unsave" a person. God looks into the hearts of people no matter what group they attend.

A search on the Internet for "Cults" should give much more information on the group so that you can draw your own conclusions. Here are two links that may help:

But please understand that many of these anti-cult sites have an agenda of their own. The early Christian Church was considered a "Cult." Luther's Church was considered a "cult." And when denominations broke off from Luther they were tagged as "cults." This kind of name calling has been going on a long time.

God Bless
