Dear Bill,

I agree with your point too, but in this world, we must learn to trust others with higher responsibility. Especially a leader of a Church. You never know another christian whom you confessed your sin to is a chatterbox or someone who may leak your personal sin out. Don't you think that a little confession cubicle with curtain enclosed is better? No name or age is to be known to the priest. That means that your sins are confessed, but forgiven by God only. Not by the priest of course, haha! And with the priest's experience, he can comfort the confessor, well, the only thing exposed is only his/her sexuality, a male or a female. Well many protestant brothers/sisters don't know that their identity is kept from the priest.
        Does this fulfill your query?

God Bless you,

Emmanuel
