Dear Emmanuel,

Quote:

"Paul is not talking about submission to civil and general
authority, hence every authority, civil, school. church,
companies, or even the evil authorities. Governing
authorities, so we don't talk about evil authority first"

I respectfully disagree. I beleive my exegeses on Romans 13 was correct. Paul was in fact specifically speaking of civil authority as it applied in Rome at the time.

It must be kept in context !

Now an exposition of this may lead us to understand how we may apply it today in other areas. But we must be carefull when we try to apply Scripture concerning one thing to another thing.

However, there are many other Scriptures that specifically address obedience to leaders in the Church.

Why don't you consider using Scriptures that SPECIFICALLY apply to obedience to leaders in the Church to prove your point, since Romans 13 does not SPECIFICALLY apply to obedience to the Church.

To exegete the Scripture is more that quoting one section of scripture. One must endeavor to find all scriptures on that subject and then fit them together in a logical manner.

Hint: Consider doing word searches on "obey, obedience, leader, elder, bishop, deacon, pastor, church.

This can be easily done at:

Your point is well taken but your Scripture reference to support it is weak. You need to build a better case.

I am not wishing to engage in debate on this. I am just trying to help you understand and practice the use of good interpretation and exegesis like I posted previously.

Your Brother in Christ,

Bill
