Dear Bill, I fully understand that Pope is not written anywhere in the Bible, Pope is a term given by Roman tradition that there must be a leader taking care of his entire church and he is answerable to Jesus, head of the church. If you don't talk only on the petros or petra, can you explain kephas as the rock? A pile of sand? Peter was just a man, to us a Saint, what power he has all come from the one who sent him.The book of Acts has revealed to many that different vocations in the church serve the Lord, and upon all churches in the world, they should believe in one practise, one worship, one sacrifice and unified in faith, thoughts and mind. Though it never speak clearly on papacy, but the fact that a church leader should be a leader of all its parishes, dioceses and he is to be answerable from any fault derives, and his responsibility is greater than any, while I just leave it to God for you to decide and accept, no hard feelings, peace be with you!
