Emmanuel, It is not a practice of mine to bless things like you suggest. Not because I think is is intrinsically evil or non scriptural. It is just not something I was brought up with. I think this is more of an RCC thing. Personally I have no problem with it as long as no power is vested in the object itself after this "blessing", and the object will not become an "object of adoration". The image it represents ( Christ / God) is the object of adoration. It must be understood I think, that the object itself will not somehow become "Holy" because of this blessing. But some of my fellow Protestants would probably speak against it. If there is any doubt in your mind about doing this, then I suggest you pray for wisdom and guidance. Do we not bless our food?
