Dear,
Christian believe that justification is a completely gratuitous gift from God. As the Council of Trent declared, “None of those things which precede justification – whether faith or works – merit the grace itself of justification. For, if it be a grace, it is not now by works, otherwise, as the same Apostle says, grace is no more grace.” In fact, the Council went so far as to say, “If any one says that man may be justified before God by his own works, whether done through the teaching of human nature, or that of the law, without the grace of God through Jesus Christ; let him be anathema.” Good works play a role in the Christian life only after a person is justified. As the Bible says, “We are God’s workmanship, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Eph. 2:10).

In His Love,

Emmanuel
