Emmanuel, It only stands to reason that Luther held a Marian view( personally). After all, his background was from Roman Catholicism. Yet we know from your post that: "Luther did not believe that this doctrine should be imposed on all believers, since he felt that the Bible didn't explicitly and formally teach it." My Brother, I do not understand why it is so important to bring up Luther(monk/priest)and focus on the differences between RCC and Protestants, unless it can somehow provide an avenue to bring us closer to understanding God and help us live for Him. Therefore, I think a more fruitful direction for dialog between Catholics and Protestants would be to attempt to discover our commonalities and discover those thing that we can agree on to the end that Christ and God are served more effectively. What would it benefit Christ's Church if I were to post biased Protestant rhetoric about the Pope or the Catholic Fathers? How would God be served? Not well I think. So, I will exhort you to try and see where all Christians can be better served in our posts and dialogs. The Kingdom of God is much, much greater than Luther, marianism, or insigificant differences between Catholics and Protestants. God Bless You, Bill Roth |
