Enjoy... But remember
"Don't give in to winning the argument
and losing one of your eternal crowns..."

Dear, Bill, I am not saying this is for Asian only, but true enough, in this part of the world, Taosim, Buddhism, Hinduism....etc occurs a lot. Especially when our parents are pagan worshippers. They offer food and drinks as sacrifice to the "Gods". They believed when the food is consumed spiritually, then it will be blessed and a blessing to eat. First, when I was in the Anglican Communion, I was told to stay far and not consume those "Unclean Food". My parents got provoked by my action and started to condemn Christianity image among their friends and relative. Sometimes, things do happen in different situation. We cannot just merely follow the "works" of law. Do we ever consider what other may have a bad impression of Christianity and draw their faith further from God? We must act upon situations that we are in. NOt being harden and does not care for others' thought, if this shall be a sin to God on me, let it be, because when I am getting the punishment, I helped others to get closer to God. To stand aside in my Granny's funeral without bowing nor holding a joss stick, do you know how serious is this conduct in the whole family? Traditional Chinese custom is very conservative, why can't I hold a joss stick and for the sake of holding, not praying? They see the difference in us, they will admire our generousity, our care, our love. For eating "idol blessed" food, try not to eat them, but when we have at no choice, we say grace and apologize to God and eat them with a heart of content and conscience. Acts 10:9-15, we should not be like the olden Jews, considering some food as unclean, do we not eat pork? But there are limits, animals killed by another, natural death, animals being strangled to death for purpose of human consumation. In His Thoughts, Emmanuel |
