Hi SK, thanks for your contribution. Glad you were able to say some views. If I may be playing a devil's advocate role for a moment, if this was addressed by people who are Messianic Jews, this is what they might say to your arguments. SK: Paul was addressing the issue concerning the different faith christians in his days had towards food. Some have faith to eat all things, some to eat only vegetables (most probably referring to the time before God gave the command to Noah in Gen 9:3. Note there was no mention of unclean or clean food at that time, but of course though killing of animals is allowed for food, killing of fellow men carries the death penalty till today) while others follow the Judaic food laws still. Messianic Jews might reply: "Judaic food laws== Clean and Unclean Food. Judaic food laws IS remarking on clean and unclean food. Even though Paul was addressing the issues of food, to the Gentiles, yet he himself kept to the food laws. He did not sever from it hence Messianic Jews ought to follow the Judaic food laws, and God also decreed that those who sojourns(lives and abides by your faith) with you, are to be subjected to these laws. Because it is recorded in Leviticus 20:26 and 21:8, under the aspect of food laws, You shall be holy, for I the Lord am holy. On top of that, because there was no remark on clean and unclean food within the whole New Testament, hence we can note that the Early Christians probably obeyed the Food Law as ascribed to the Jews, unlike the other arguments of circumcision, Jewish customs." Rest assured that we are all here to expose some legalistic opinions which others hold onto, in order not to be deceived. |
