None Seems to me . . . .

Re: Feedback Concerns on Church Growth (Forum Master)

It seems to me that many Churches go to extreme and sometimes worldy measures to attract people to "join the fold." Measures and tacticts that are suspect. Numbers seem to be the measure of success.

The Gospels show us how Jesus attracted people and the book of Acts records the methods that Paul used. These methods are sound. Success in not in the numbers.

Many seem to be of the belief that if we do not get the message of Christ to the masses that the masses will will be lost. Thus a sense of urgency prevails.

So, when the "old way" of getting people to Christ seems to fail, other methods are employed. Consultants are hired to get the message out. Get the masses to come.

I think it is sad that Churches have decided to employ these worldy methods to attract people to Christ. Is not the love of Christ enough? Why should we use the things of the world to attract people to the things of God ?

God is not desperate for chrildren.

Luke 3:8 (KJV)

[8] Bring forth therefore fruits worthy of repentance, and begin not to say within yourselves, We have Abraham to our father: for I say unto you, That God is able of these stones to raise up children unto Abraham.

God could raise up children from the rocks in a parking lot if he chose to.

Let us not think the we have to resort to questionable worldly practices to attract people to Christ. We do not. Nor should we.

Let us stand on the foundation of Christ and the example that He and the apostles gave us.
