Hi Wah Shing,

I do believe your concerns come from your love for your church, and that you are feeling a sense of loss as to what to make of it.

There is certainly a felt need from within your church. And I believe God wishes to meet that need. I believe that how a church weathers a crisis will be telling of who they truly depend on and trust in.

I remember recently from devotion, Selwyn Hughes "Every Day with Jesus", commented that there are 2 types of church: the "head" church and the "heart" church. Those from the "head" church are Word-based, they prefer to sing hymns and they dislike what the "heart" church does. While the "heart" church loves to be in love with God, to be happy and rejoicing one moment for God and crying and weeping the next moment because they realise their folly/their weakness/their sin, and they too have qualms with the "head" church for they feel that these people are not proclaiming God's message as quick as they are and exercising the gifts of the Holy Spirit.

Selwyn Hughes concluded his digest by stating that our Lord is the Lord of the intellectuals and the Lord of the Emotional, He loves both churches and would prefer that both churches learn from the other churches strength, instead of bickering about differences.

In short, I think you have hit the nail on the head when one recognises that he/she might not be grounded in the Word as opposed to those who are Evangelicals. While Evangelicals, like myself, need to challenge myself to learn more about the move of the Holy Ghost.

I do believe we are drawing closer to that mark, though there are still disagreements among brothers, but I do firmly believe that God will bring understanding and reconciliation to both camps and make straight His path of righteousness for us all.

Our Messiah Lives indeed.
