I tried spending some time thinking about what both of you have mentioned, as this matter is dicey. It brings me to raise more questions. 1. If Paul mentioned that there are some who will be teachers, some apostles, some prophets. Why is it that Charismatic churches have this tendency to have the Pastor being like all rolled into one? Apostle, teacher, Prophet- a three-in-one role? Is it possible? 2. In Wah Shing's thread, those invited speakers, I believe, came on invite by LK, right? Being the head of the church, should he not have screened out his invite list? Hence, would he not have advocated their teachings himself? Pulpit ministry is no a laughing matter, especially when it deals with the very lives of the congregation, what you sow into them matters. It might take a long time to undo certain harms of an invited speaker when it goes against the grain of what the Senior Pastor teaches. This is the truth. It is not the invited speakers who would be there to walk beside you, it is the Senior Pastor. Hence, I find it hard to come to terms with the fact that he would have invited such speakers, if he himself did not agree with their teachings. Therefore, regarding this matter, I would suppose that LK is in line with the practices of this invited speakers as well as their animistic theology. 3. With regard to SL's thread, that was truly done with love. I do believe that LK was used by God for a purpose. Whether or not he is meant to continue under the umbrella of God, might be a different story, as we know that God does have seasons of revival and blessings. (Ecclesiastes 3:1-8) This, only God knows. Hence, my question is, where is God bringing this church at the turn of 2001? 4. Is it Biblical to turn away people of God, just on the basis of not sharing the same vision? 5. What was Christ's plan for His church? 6. How did the Early Church meet? What was their vision like? Was it to chase away those who were not sharing the same vision? If I read my Bible right, they only threw out those who were not walking right with God, and not those who feared God but had different visions for the church. 7. And when we say we are a ROYAL PRIESTHOOD, A HOLY NATION, what does that truly mean? Having raised all these questions, we are not here to judge, but to discover the truths of what Christ would do if He was to be with us, in our cells? Or what would Paul, Peter say if he were to be with us today? Only through digging out the truths, would we be able to assess our present situation, in light of Scripture. Really appreciated both your efforts in bringing to surface the issues at hand in the most constructive way one could possibly come up with. Truly a challenge, but it sure sets a good example for all of us to follow. Well done, both of you. SL and Wah Shing. God be with us, royston |
