and losing one of your eternal crowns..."

Thanks for sharing Wah Shing. The point you mentioned about prophesy is interesting. Some prophesies are not really predictive preophesies; they are not even of the exhortative kind. In fact they are not prophesies at all. They are aspirations of a person. Remember the remark of an 8 year-old kid, that he will become an astronaut when he grows up ? Well I don't think he is prophesying about his future career; he is just voicing his aspiration and declaring what he would like to see happen in the future. Such aspiration can be healthy as it gives the child the needed focus and motivations in life. Likewise, if a pastor declared that there will be a nation wide salvation at the turn of the new century where every man and woman in the land would turn to Christ, I wouldn't be too disturbed even if I knew that would not come true, for that's the hope and aspiration of most good pastors - a healthy sign that their zeal is still alive.
But having said that, I think you are right. Even such aspirations should be voiced with care or not at all, lest they are misunderstood as predictive prophesies. And of course there are false prophesies too, that should never be uttered at all. SL
