Hi Wah Shing, Yes, I agree that Touch Community Services has probably been quite visible in the way they 'package' themselves in front of the media. However, I would beg to differ that TCS was in the forefront of community action/ community service. Actually, the rest of the denominational churches had been doing so for years before TCS came into the picture. I believe you would have heard of Chen Su Lan Home, St Joseph's Home for Boys, and a whole host of other denominational-church-run charity organisations and homes. The only difference between these and TCS, is the way it is packaged. Maybe that is why, several denominational churches are a little uncomfortable with the way Pentacostal/ Charismatic churches move in a CEO organisational structure, where Packaging is a key position to 'draw' people to Christ. Hence, forgive my ignorance on the issue of these titles like Apostles and Prophets and Teacher and Pastor..... somehow, such churches are self-absorbed into the area that adopts Peter Wagner's theology, Packaging, Titles and so on. I doubt I can consider LK as an Apostle to Singapore for he was not the first to start a church in Singapore. If we really look at the word "apostle", it would probably indicate the founder of the first church in that particular place. So if this being the case, then Christianity came to Singapore through Methodism instead. Hence, please do not be convinced that TCS or LK were the first to establish foothold in Singapore, there are others who came before they did, and they never asked for a single credit, only because their main purpose was to bring Christ to the nations and that is a greater calling and reward anyone could ever receive. Something for us all to think about and chew upon: "Christ told his disciples, esp John and James when they haggled for the seat on Christ's right hand side, that the first shall be last and the last shall be first..... and Paul commented that the Teachers of the Word are put on a greater judgement by God". In our zeal to spread the message of salvation, have we been distracted by the Evil One's ways of self-glorification through exaltations or commendations by others (Recall the 3 temptations on Christ by Satan), regarding our ministry? May this guide us to walk in His Truth, royston |
