Hi Frank,
Since John the Baptist even know who(Son of God) is coming after him, it is impossible for him not to know that he is Elijah. Somebody also told me that "it was the office and power,"or in the spirit of Elijah". I'm not sure and I'm still thinking. As for the 2 endtime witnesses, one of them may be Apostle John because I think he did not die. The other witness may be Elijah if John the Baptist is not Elijah. John 21:22 Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? follow thou me. 23 Then went this saying abroad among the brethren, that that disciple should not die: yet Jesus said not unto him, He shall not die; but, If I will that he tarry till I come, what is that to thee? 24 This is the disciple which testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.
