Hi all,
I have confirmed that Jesus was not talking about the physical person of Elijah. He is talking about the spirit and power of Elijah. Luke 1:17 - And he(John the Baptist) shall go before him(Jesus) in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just; to make ready a people prepared for the Lord. Thus John could truthfully say he was not Elijah. As for the 2 witnesses, I believe they are Moses and Elijah. Let's see what power the two witnesses have. Rev 11:6 - These have power to shut heaven, that it rain not in the days of their prophecy: and have power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues, as often as they will. MOSES - Moses has already shown us in the land of Egypt that he has power over waters to turn them to blood, and to smite the earth with all plagues. ELIJAH - In 1 King 17:1, Elijah said he has the power to shut heaven and control rain. 1 King 17:1 - And Elijah the Tishbite, who was of the inhabitants of Gilead, said unto Ahab, As the LORD God of Israel liveth, before whom I stand, there shall not be dew nor rain these years, but according to my word. One more scripture to consider. Both Moses and Elijah appear at the Mount of transfiguration and was seen talking to Jesus. What are their conversation? Can it be Jesus giving instruction to them about the endtimes? Matthew 17:3 And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. From the scriptures shown, I'm pretty sure that the witnesses are Elijah and Moses. Jesus Loves True Light
