Hi SK/SA, You asked, "Why does Interested then say (some time back) that the Bible Presbyterians and the Charismatics/Pentecostals are the most different compared to each other, among all the denominations?" Pentecostals believe that if you don't speak in tongues you are not baptised in/with the Holy Spirit and so you are not filled with the Spirit or don't have the Spirit. Bible-Presbyterians believe that the majority of christians are apostate and so should come out of their churches and be separate. Both Pentecostals and Bible-Prebysterians are very exclusive but they are also in total disagreement with each other. Charismatics, on the other hand follow their mainline church doctrines and not all of them believe that speaking in tongues is a must nor it is the baptism of the Holy Spirit. What they are interested is a deeper working of the Holy Spirit in gifts of grace in their lives rather than the seeking of any power gifts. This was in the 1970s and early 80s. But recently they have opened themselves to Pentecostals who are ever waiting to infiltrate their chruches and the line between Pentecostals and Charismatics is fading fast. Once they open themselves to Pentecostals there is no telling what is going to happen. Note, not all Pentecostals are the same and there are many kinds of Pentecostals. Generally those Pentecostals who are successful in their own churches will not be so keen to infiltrate other churches. They wouldn't have the time. Those who do are the less successful ones and so Charismatics will not have the best of the Pentecostal preachers. Bye Bye: |
