Much of what many churches do in the name of evangelism cannot be biblically justified. The ends do not necessarily justify the means employed. Sad to say, when honest queries are raised as to the methods employed, sometimes charges are hurled back accusing the asker of improper motives, divisive spirit, lack of love etc. I guess today believers are hardly comfortable with the offense of the cross. Many of our methods seem to undermine or to play down the offense by painting the Gospel as something attractive. Perhaps we need to learn from the early church. Paul said his gospel was not with the eloquence and wisdom of men so that the cross would not be made void. Are we guilty of that very thing?
