Dear Royston, Some extracts from my previous debates on this issue in another forum, pls advise: ______________________________________________________________ Show no favorism and give forth no excuse to concerntrate on in specific part of the Bible but as a whole, and in conjunction with both the OT and NT together as one final answer. I agreed that St Paul wrote 25% of NT, does this give you an excuse to ignore the rest as compiled to one? Is it Paul who beared your sins or Jesus? We should ........I already mentioned above and all my new replies to you. ______________________________________________________________ To us, you've mistaken, the Bible is not a dead letter, mind your words pls. It the words which became flesh, simply means that Jesus is made half spirit and half human, born of the virgin Mary, the Mother of God (In humanic term, not spiritual). We use the bible as a guide, a proof of God's words, extract some to be doctrines to follow, learning of God's everyday messages to all, to understand Christianity, ...........eg but never a usage to became a tool in debate unless necessarily to defend our Faith, lastly, to argue with others, for the Words are gracious and Holy, we give to it with Glory to God, never shalt we satisfy our own uninspiration thru' individual's interpretation to contradict one another. I am not saying you are doing it. Again, the words are not dead to us, but alive, its what we do in actions speak louder to God, not just obeying and saying. ______________________________________________________________ As I have spoken to XXX on this matter, Catholics don't just rely on NT scriptures to find a final answer, example Paul's letters and books, have you missed out on the little book of James? James 4:16 contradicts your points of confessing sins and praying to one another after confession of all, then we present every sins together to the Lord, earlier on in the scriptures of James, the elders are the ones who will help to lead all in spritual well-being. I am not saying you are obligated only to confess to the priests only, Catholics does this that because its a tradition, we are not wrong to do this either. We as Christians should put all OT and NT scriptures and picture out as one final solution to all, maybe there are other few more ways than what we chose to use or believe, you can't just simply rely on NT scriptures as the Final Revelation of all, the OT's prophecies were answered in the NT, so does the final doctrinal matters, whether on leadership, apostolic succession, anointing, ordains of priests,....eg. ______________________________________________________________ A link to reference on more about this issue and others: http://pub40.bravenet.com/forum/show.php?usernum=3385661566 Shalom, Emmanuel |
