I deliberately chose to leave out v21-22 as I wanted Grace Messenger to know that unless a revelation is given by means of divine wisdom, one might not know the true meaning of the Word of God.
In the context of the dialogue between Jesus and the Jews, Grace Messenger would have interpreted Jesus’ saying literally and missed His point if he were among them. It is because Grace Messenger advocates that “the only sane and reasonable way to understanding the word of God is to take it literally as it is written unless the context demands that it should be taken figuratively.” Verses 21-22 only confirm Jesus was prophesying His death and resurrection after the incident as the disciples recalled Jesus’ saying. We would miss the point if we interpret the prophecies in Rev 17 & 18 literally. My point is prophecy, which involves especially dream and vision, can be interpreted figuratively when literal interpretation does not make sense. Otherwise, John didn’t need the angel in Rev 17 to explain to him if he could understand the vision literally. Hence, you are missing my point!
