Hi Interested,

Some response to your reply:

You wrote: "... please go over to Daniel 9 and read it carefully and see who it was who is suppose to commit the abomination of the desolation."

What do you think is the abomination of desolation referring to?

I do not see how you can figure out exactly who it is that will commit the abomination of desolation from Dan 9 alone; you need to cross reference to Dan 11. Your response please.

You wrote: "Prophecy by its very nature must be figurative or else everybody will understand it. All you have is to read the Bible prophecies and see how difficult or even impossible it is to understand some parts of it."

I don’t understand why "Prophecy by its very nature must be figurative" and the part about "or else everybody will understand it".

Ps 119:130 The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple. Which means a key to understanding the Word of God is to approach with simple faith in what God says as it is written in His Word.

Ps 119:130 can’t be wrong. A good Bible teacher must be able to teach from the Word of God, prophecy included, what it says so that a young child will know what it is that God is saying to man.

You wrote: "Without a knowledge of history it will be impossible to tell what is already over and what is yet to come."

I agree with the first part of your statement. If a prophecy is fulfilled it becomes history. And the Word of God is vindicated.

But you don’t need history to know what God is talking about in the first place. The prophets are sent and the prophetic writings are recorded to tell and warn people of what is coming. It will not make sense to say that the message is knowable only until history unfolded. We have to keep using Scriptures to check what is said in Scriptures, rather than keep looking at history to check what is said in the Scriptures.

You wrote: "In the mean time the Gospel must be preached to all nations - the increase of the Kingdom to fill the whole earth. That is the sign given. Check it out with Daniel."

In your view how is the ushering in of the Kingdom going to take place? Is the Kingdom already in existence? Is it going to be gradually phased in through the christianizing of the world? Or is it going to be set up only when Messiah returns to earth in the future after Tribulation?

1. Feedback Hi LBS, It's okay. The main problem with prophecy is to fix the timing of the event. n/t by Interested , 2001, Oct 09
