Hi ! i have difficulties understanding the following passages.. Is it in a cultural context that Paul wrote this to Corins /Timothy or it has more implications as in it is still relevant? I mean are they biblical principles or certain words of the bibles are situational applications depending on the type of society we live in ? Some people just brush this passages aside. For the record, I do not see nor have any problems with women's leadership in the church but I would still like to examine the word of God rather than brush them aside. This passages seems very clear to a person 1st time reading it about what it is trying to convey. Paron my ignorance for asking these questions : ) KJV 1 Cor 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law. And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church. NIV 1 Cor 14:34-35 women should remain silent in the churches. They are not allowed to speak, but must be in submission, as the Law says. If they want to inquire about something, they should ask their own husbands at home; for it is disgraceful for a woman to speak in the church. NIV 1 Tim 2:9-15 I also want women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, not with braided hair or gold or pearls or expensive clothes,but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God. A woman should learn in quietness and full submission. I do not permit a woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she must be silent. For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety.
