Hi there,
Little man
My sharing is that this is Not just a cultural issue.
Although there is the issue of equal 'rights'. This statement by Paul is a doctrinal statement which means it applies to the church not just the people in a certain city.
My point..look at the statement.. 'For Adam was formed first, then Eve. And Adam was not the one deceived; it was the woman who was deceived and became a sinner. But women will be saved through childbearing--if they continue in faith, love and holiness with propriety" This is a doctrinal statement.Paul refers to Genesis and the origin of human sin. God has created man and woman differently, ie emotionallly and of course physically. Because woman tends to be more emotional, Satan seems to have known that he would able to deceive her easier. This what Paul is pointing to. As the office of a pastor/leader in a church setting is an important office, Paul has made a statement for the church to follow. Women would be 'easier' to be in deception than men. Therefore it is better for women not to lead. Remember the head of the church is the shepherd. If he/she goes astray, the whole chruch goes as well. However, I do believe that women has a role to play when God gives her the gift to teach. However, I believe it has to come under the covering of another male pastor and she must Not be the head pastor. Hope that helps In Christ Jesus JCKLIEW
