Dear Bill, The RCC is not forbidding others to marry nor prevented from consuming meat. What do you have to say about the famous fast method, "Daniel's fasting"? We believe that in our individual lives, we do recieve personal calling from God about our vocation in the Church, if you do think about it, can Mother Teresa did her compassion work as well if she was attached? You may have to understand our Celibacy vow is all about. A nun, priest, or a monk, vows celibacy to commit themselves fully to God, in other sense, married to the church, which means the Bridegroom is the Christ himself, if the person who has already taken the vow met someone that they feel is for them as life partner, they may resign from the vocation, for some take that God has another route for them to carry on. Off they go, happily married, but they are still welcomed in the church as a community, they will not be excommunicated. If you would have understand the serious problems in this secular world, the RCC position had and has been misunderstood and badly and wrong informed of the practises and the reasons behind. We have our own route to go, according to the calling of God, in times, we need to seek liberalism, in other times, God prefered our solemn and obedience. Food offered to idols by others, can we take them? Paul says no. For the sake of unity in Christ, but what about Peter's vision before going to Cornelius' house? Did god ever mention that all food given by Him (Thru' nature, thats edible) are all clean to eat?
