Emmanuel,
Sorry about not replying sooner.
"Food offered to idols by others, can we take them? Paul says no. For the sake of unity in Christ, but what about Peter's vision before going to Cornelius' house? Did god ever mention that all food given by Him (Thru' nature, thats edible) are all clean to eat? Peter's vision was not about food, but about God taking the gospel of Christ to the Gentiles. The Gentiles were considered unclean by the Jews. God used the alegory of killing and eating unclean animals in the vision to prepare Peter to accept the Gentiles. The purpose of the vision was not to delcare these animals as clean and ok to eat, but rather to tell Peter that the Gentiles could receive the gospel. I am not aware of any specific edict to the effect that all foods given by nature are either clean or not clean. However, Jesus plainly said in Mark 7:15
" There is nothing from without a man, that entering into
him can defile him: but the things which come out of him,
those are they that defile the man."
Foods cannot spiritualy defile a person in and of themselves, whether they they are "natural" or not. Food cannot get into and affect our "hearts." As to foods offered to idols, I cannot imagine a Christian who would want to consume them. This is not real issue within my circles. The food itself is not defiling, but the unlearned may be "offended" in this practice. Therefore it may be a stumbling block. Lawful but not expedient. God Bless Bill
