Hi SBG,

The part you probably have a problem with is John 15:2:"He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit"

The English terminology of cuts off is probably displaying a bad light to the issue of cut off..... However, the Greek word for "cut off" in John 15:2 is AIRO. Meaning "take away", "take up" or "lift up".

So a positive side to it, is "lift up", the issue of God's discipline, where He chastises us, to bear more fruit for Him. So in this light, the English translation might not be suitably explained, seemingly indicating that we will be cut off if we were not to bear fruit, while on the contrary, going back to the Greek root word, we are to be disciplined, in order to bear more fruit.

Hence, looking from a global perspective, this is consistent to the entire Scripture where God disciplines those He loves and He rebukes those He cares for.

Likewise, this agrees with what Keith has also shared with you.

More details can be found if one was to read Bruce Wilkinson's Secrets of the Vine, though I am aware that some people here would probably start another salvo of attacks on this. But I have to speak the truth to what the Word teaches us, not in its English translations but to refer back to its original language instead, in order to explain to us what God wants to do in our lives as Christians.

Once we are Christians, we will be subject to discipline and moulding by God to become more like Christ with each day passing.

Hear what the Word has to teach us, through a teacher like Bruce Wilkinson.

God's plan be revealed to us,
royston
