Hi SBG,
As pointed out in the previous posting, the Greek word AIRO can mean lift up or take away in Jn 15:2. And in the next breath Jesus said in v 6 that "if anyone does not abide in Me, he is cast out as a branch and is withered, and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned." I suggest to you that Jesus is saying that every branch that does not bear fruit will be taken away and thrown them into the fire, and burned. Can you see that v 6 expands on the meaning of v 2? The passage in between speaks very clearly that anyone who abides in Christ will bear fruit and much fruit (v 5).In v 2, Jesus is saying about every branch that does not bear fruit he will take away (or lift up?). In order to flow with what our Lord Jesus says, which two words will you choose? TAKE AWAY OR LIFT UP? For me, it is "TAKE AWAY" please. How about you? Be careful of paradigm shift that shifts you away from the truth of God's word! In Christ,
