Modern chrisianity is a term I use but it is quite difficult define it. Other people have used terms like Today's Gospel, etc. Generally what we mean are those brands of the Gospel which doesn't seem to work and which makes the last state of a man worse than his first, sometimes even worse than a non-christian. For example, in the old days they used to preach that when you believe in Christ you will have joy and peace. I think such messages are no longer preached because the modern Gospel can no longer give a person such joy and peace. What it can produce is guilt and confusion as some of the contributions in this Forum have shown. There doesn't seem to be any assurance of salvation in Today's Gospel. It doesn't matter what the labels are. If the Gospel is off centered then it cannot produce joy, peace and full assurance. Bye Bye: |
