"*** Modern Christianity? I don't believe in that. I don't think the early Christians hold the "once saved always saved" doctrine. I don't hold that doctrine either. Contrary to what Interested said, I have peace and joy. If we sin against God, we repent and God is faithful and just to forgive us, nothing to be guilty of. The problem for those who became worst is because they lack of faith in God, they don't believe that God can forgive them so many times." Hi TL, Actually, Interested is indicating the aspect of WORKS, not SIN. All of us here are in agreement with the issue of God being faithful and just to forgive us, hence no need to feel guilty about it. What Interested and I and Keith and probably even Chris are trying to say here, is the added BURDEN which some so called true and professing Christians/preachers/teachers do to new converts/young believers/believers who are bearing some or no fruit currently. They exact unnecessary pressure on these candidates, when in actual fact, this is not to be the case. An example is this: "Welcome in the family of God, for you were once sinners but now you are saints. BUT you have to work at developing the FRUITS of the SPIRIT, to show that you are true Christians." This therefore, generates the issue like you have discussed with me earlier, where such so called true and professing Christians would then look down on those who supposedly are not bearing fruit. E.g. 2nd generation Christians or Sunday Christians. And as you yourself, have also conveniently exclaimed that you do not consider 2nd generation Christians and Sunday Christians as saints. This is the part where we disagree with you on theology. Hope you get what we are trying to surface to both you and SBG. God bless you richly in your search for His truth. royston |
